Produced after his return to Armenia in 1969, “We” draws on archival footage from state collections and the Yerevan Documentary Film Studio, reworked into a tightly structured montage. Pelechian builds the film through rhythm and visual correspondences. Repetition — central to his theory of “distance montage” — intensifies meaning: by separating related images and reintroducing them across the film, he amplifies their expressive and conceptual impact.

Restoration of Artavazd Pelechian’s films launched by Coproduction Office in partnership with Cineteca di Bologna under the director’s supervision. Best available elements selected by the director and scanned in 4K at the Public Television Company of Armenia. Restoration and color grading carried out by L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory.

"We" will be screeened with the films "Land of the People", "Mountain Patrol" and "The Seasons" as part of the Pelechian Project 1.
