International Perspective

A selection of recent cinematic production from around the world, including new works by acclaimed directors and films by emerging talents. The International Perspective section features works from both traditional film industries and those that rarely reach Brazil.

New Directors Competition

A competition showcasing works by filmmakers presenting their first or second feature film, all of whom are competing for the Bandeira Paulista Trophy. Following the screenings during the first week of the event, the most voted-for films by the public are selected and then viewed by the Mostra Jury, which will then name the award winners.

Mostra Brasil

Brazilian titles by established filmmakers and works by debut directors. The films, all produced in 2025 and unreleased in São Paulo, make up the Mostra Brasil section, which provides a panorama of recent national film production.

Spotlight on the UK

British films hold a prominent place in this year's Mostra program. As part of the UK/Brazil Season of Culture 2025-26, the 49th Mostra presents 25 films within a multifaceted panorama of contemporary British productions and co-productions.

Special Screening

Featuring films by renowned directors with special themes, restored titles and new copies, series, short films, works that deal with urgent issues, and some that are, at times, unclassifiable, the Special Screening offers a multiple and polyphonic overview of the current audiovisual production landscape.

Tribute

Screenings that celebrate this year's honored filmmakers and artists receiving the Humanity Award and the Leon Cakoff Prize: Euzhan Palcy, Jafar Panahi, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Charlie Kaufman, and Mauricio de Sousa.

Virtual Reality

Always attentive to the future and new aesthetic perspectives, the 49th Mostra presents a new panorama of recent production in Virtual Reality (VR), with films that showcase the next steps in this medium.

2nd Mostrinha

A segment of the 49th Mostra dedicated to childhood and youth, focusing on the new generation of spectators to come. The 2nd Mostrinha presents 22 titles for the children and youth audience, including both feature and short films.

Restored Films

The 49th Mostra continues its focus on memory and the preservation of cinema. Amidst hundreds of contemporary films, it also offers the opportunity to see restored works, rare titles, new copies of classics, and films to be rediscovered.
