Queen is a strong-willed Rwandan woman who ekes out a living for herself and her two children in a Nairobi slum in Kenya in the late 1990s. She gets to know the Irish correspondent Anna and an unexpected and unusual friendship ensues, as they take on pharmaceutical companies withholding life-saving HIV treatment from impoverished Kenyan communities.
