Ariane lives with Simon in a large apartment in Paris, under constant surveillance. He wants to know everything about her, follows her when she goes out, and subjects her to endless questions. Ariane, however, keeps part of her life beyond Simon’s reach, particularly her encounters with other women, including Andrée. Convinced that she is leading a double life, Simon becomes increasingly jealous and obsessive, trying to understand a world that remains inaccessible to him. When the two decide to leave together for one last trip, their relationship reaches its breaking point. Based on “The Captive”, by Marcel Proust.

Paulo Branco receives the Leon Cakoff Prize at this 50th Mostra.
