A veteran truck driver in her seventies, CJ is one of the last independent owner-operators in a rapidly disappearing, male-dominated industry. A lifetime on the road has left her a life built on motion, solitude and distance, as she rarely stays anywhere for long and often sleeps in her truck. Her only steady connection is Buck, a fellow trucker she has never met in person, whose voice over the radio travels the miles with her. Then two things shift her course: contact with a new generation of self-promoting, online-savvy drivers, and a new letter from the parole board that she had long refused to open. This time, she finally opens it. Faced with it, CJ does what she has always done and gets back on the road. But as her way of life begins to crack, she can no longer outrun what she left behind.
