In Paris in the early 2000s, Gilbert Valence, a theater actor with a long career, has just been cast as Béranger I in Eugène Ionesco’s “Exit the King.” When his agent and old friend George tells him that his wife, daughter, and son-in-law have been killed in a car accident, Gilbert begins to divide his time between his grandson and the stage. As he prepares to play Prospero in “The Tempest,” he tries to rebuild his life and career after the tragedy. Winner of the Critics’ Prize at the 25th Mostra.
Paulo Branco receives the Leon Cakoff Prize at this 50th Mostra.
