50ª mostra > filmes > The Battle of Chile: Part III
On the sidelines of the confrontation between Salvador Allende’s government and the opposition, the population organizes to find ways to survive amid the crisis and food shortages in Chile. The popular sectors, which supported the government, carry out a series of collective actions, such as community markets, industrial cordons, and peasant committees, to create alternatives to the economic boycott and overcome the crisis. Mostly spontaneous, these initiatives create a “state” within the State. The third part of “The Battle of Chile” records these experiences and the emergence of new forms of popular organization on the eve of the 1973 coup.
