In the city of Picuí, in the backlands of Paraíba, a group of scientists attempts to eradicate the deadly Aedes aegypti mosquito — the vector for dengue fever — through a secret experiment titled Yellow Cake. Using uranium mined in the region, the project aims to sterilize the mosquitoes and thus contain the spread of the disease. Nuclear physicist Rúbia Ribeiro is part of the experiment. When the plan fails and chaos ensues, a determined Brazilian researcher, with the help of local miners, must stop the catastrophe before it is too late.
