50ª mostra > filmes > The Oligarch and the Art Dealer
Yves Bouvier, a Swiss businessman known for the network of ports where the ultra-rich store their wealth away from the public eye, meets Dmitry Rybolovlev, a Russian oligarch who made his fortune after the fall of the Soviet Union. From their collaboration, one of the greatest private art collections in the world is born. Until Bouvier is accused of defrauding Rybolovlev of more than a billion dollars, while Rybolovlev, in turn, faces accusations of influence peddling with the government of Monaco and the threat of the most expensive divorce in history. Amidst corruption attempts and smear campaigns, the all-out war between the two men culminates in a highly publicized lawsuit in New York that threatens Sotheby’s, one of the most revered institutions in the art world. Spanning more than two decades, multiple countries, and dozens of masterpieces, we follow the hidden world of some of the richest and most powerful people in modern society. Presented at the Sundance Film Festival.
