Silvia lives with Mario on a remote island, surrounded by the sea. Her days are divided between harvesting seaweed and cleaning a manor house whose owners have not returned in years — a place linked to a haunting trauma. On an impulse, she adopts a dog, Yuri, and projects onto her a long-suppressed longing for motherhood. When Yuri suddenly disappears, the loss reawakens her buried guilt over Nicolás, the boy from the house she cleans who vanished into the sea under her care. When Yuri returns, wounded and pregnant, the love sours into control and obsession, pushing Silvia toward a radical choice. A psychological drama where grief becomes a cage and the past refuses to stay buried. Adapted from “La Perra” by Pilar Quintana. Presented in the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
