Kelly, a young portuguese teacher, begins teaching at a public school in the outskirts of Contagem, Minas Gerais. She encounters several of the problems common to Brazilian public schools: high dropout rates, learning gaps, and a widespread disinterest in classes. Idealistic, Kelly tries to change things, but ends up overstepping with her strictness. During a class, she argues with Nicolas, a young student from a second-year class, and the two must resolve the conflict before the principal. The argument brings lessons for both: Kelly learns that, in the outskirts of Brazil, the exception is the rule; and Nicolas learns that it is necessary to rebuild the present to see the future.

The film "Discipline" will be screened with the short film "Here and There".
