Vilnius, 2022. Successful executive Marija chooses the worst possible moment to come clean to her husband, Vytas, about getting a divorce: on the very eve of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Now, the couple must navigate their separation amid the outbreak of a refugee crisis and their own midlife crises. A frustrated film director, Vytas moves back in with his Russophile parents, whose worldviews clash completely with his own. Over time, however, he finds a chance to reinvent himself through anti-war performance art. For Marija, the clash between her desires and her morality leaves her frustrated and alone. Not even her attempt to help refugees by hosting a Ukrainian family in her luxury apartment brings any relief. Perhaps, in the end, life with the boring but stable Vytas wasn’t so bad after all. Winner of the Directing Award: World Cinema Dramatic at the Sundance Film Festival.
