Monica is a fearless gymnast with the talent and drive to win gold. With unwavering support from her single father, Rich—an unlikely “gym dad” covered in menacing tattoos—nothing seemed to stop her quest for glory. However, just weeks before the most important meet of her life, Monica tears a knee ligament. The injury exposes the fragility of the life they’ve created in an economically devastated town: stuck in a dead-end job, Rich placed all his hopes on his daughter’s success and is unaware of her emotional needs. Isolated and missing the thrill of competition, Monica welcomes the distraction provided by Mike, a gentle but troubled boy from school.
