Director and screenwriter, Jessica Candal holds a bachelor’s degree in audiovisual studies from the University of São Paulo and specialized in visual poetics at the School of Fine Arts of Paraná. Jessica worked as a screenwriter on films such as “Rust” (2018), a feature film by Aly Muritiba that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival; “Eduardo and Monica” (2020), by René Sampaio; “The Mothers of Derick” (2020), a documentary by Cássio Kelm; and “Drenched in Blood” (2024, 48th Mostra), again in partnership with Muritiba. As a director, she made the medium-length film “O Espelho de AnA” (2011) and short films such as “Ainda Ontem” (2018). “Horizon” is her feature directorial debut.
