

Director, screenwriter, and founding partner of the production company Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre. Her short film “Barbosa” (1988), co-directed with Jorge Furtado, won Best Fiction Short at the Havana Film Festival. She also directed the short films “Three Minutes” (1999), screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and “Miss Cristina Loses Her Memory” (2002, 26th Mostra), which received awards at several national events. Her directorial works also include the medium-length film “Liberation” (1994, 18th Mostra) and the feature films “Before the World Ends” (2010), winner of the Itamaraty Award for Best Brazilian Film at the 33rd Mostra, and “Through Ernesto’s Eyes” (2019), winner of the Critics’ Award for Best Brazilian Film at the 43rd Mostra. Together with Jorge Furtado, she also directed “Vai Dar Nada” (2022) and the feature-length documentary “Quem é Primavera das Neves” (2017). She has also directed several television productions. From 2001 to 2011, she was a programmer at Cine Santander and one of the coordinators of Casa de Cinema’s Creative Development Unit, as well as a script consultant for several laboratories. Ana Luiza was also a member of the jury of the 34th Mostra.
