The real-life story of Dona Vitória, an 80-year-old Black Brazilian woman who reported the drug trafficking and police corruption she saw from her window in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. In 2003, after facing the neglect of authorities, she bought a camcorder to record organized crime activities on her own. Over two years she risked her life to shoot more than 30 hours of shocking footage (much of it forms the core of this documentary). With the help of a newspaper reporter, she entered the witness protection program and triggered an investigation that led to the conviction of 48 criminals, including 9 police officers. To ensure her safety, she became known by the pseudonym Vitória da Paz. The face and the real name of this Brazilian heroine were kept a secret for 17 years.
