50ª mostra > filmes > Lorca: The Broken Voice
The assassination of the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca in 1936 turned him into a global myth. Since then, his legend has echoed through the work of artists such as Tennessee Williams, Bob Dylan, Pablo Neruda, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, and Leonard Cohen. For 90 years, a name, a forbidden relationship, and a plan to flee to Mexico remained hidden. Drawing on previously unseen documents — letters, poems, recollections —, the film tells the tragedy of a final love, cut short by fascism, between Lorca and a young man named Juan Ramírez de Lucas.
