Warwick Thornton

Born in Australia in 1970. He started his career as a cinematographer and documentary director for Australian TV. He wrote and directed several short films, like “Green Bush” (2005) and “Nana” (2007), both awarded at the Berlin Film Festival. His first feature film, “Samson & Delilah” (2009, 33rd Mostra), won the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He then directed “The Darkside” (2013), a segment of the collaborative feature “Words with Gods” (2014, 38th Mostra), the documentary “We Don’t Need a Map” (2017), “Sweet Country” (2017), winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, and “The New Boy” (2023).
