A Portuguese filmmaker, screenwriter and stage director, he has directed several projects for cinema, theatre and television over the past two decades, receiving awards across all these fields. He made his feature debut with “Blood Curse” (2005), co-directed with Frederico Serra and presented at the Sitges, Busan and Turin film festivals. The Mostra presented all of his subsequent works: “Noise” (2008), also directed with Serra, which was presented at the San Sebastián Film Festival and awarded at Turin; “Sadness and Joy in the Life of Giraffes” (2019); “The Domain” (2019), which competed at the Venice Film Festival and was Portugal’s submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film; “Remains of the Wind” (2022), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival; and “Dialogues After the End” (2023), which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival. He also directed the series “Glória” (2021) and plays by authors such as Dennis Kelly, Henrik Ibsen and Martin McDonagh.
