One of the most recognized filmmakers of the new Armenian cinema, Tamara Stepanyan was born in Armenia and is based in France. She directed the documentaries “Embers” (2012); “Those from the Shore” (2017); “Village of Women” (2019); and “My Armenian Phantoms” (2025), screened and awarded at film festivals such as Berlin, Busan, and DOK Leipzig. “In the Land of Arto” is her first fiction feature film.
