Sara Ishaq

Sara Ishaq is a Yemeni-Scottish filmmaker. She holds a master’s degree in film directing from the Edinburgh College of Art. She began her career as a freelance journalist, covering Yemen’s 2011 popular uprising for the BBC, Channel 4, and Al Jazeera. Sara is one of the founders of the #SupportYemen media collective, as well as the Comra Academy, a foundation focused on creative film training in Yemen, currently under Setara Films. In 2022, she joined the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk and now runs the organization in Amsterdam. She directed the documentaries “Karama Has No Walls” (2012), nominated for the Academy Award of Best Short Film, and “The Mulberry House” (2013), presented at festivals worldwide, such as IDFA. “The Station” is her first fiction feature.
