Spanish filmmakers, Helena Girón born in Santiago de Compostela, and Samuel Delgado in La Laguna, Tenerife. They have collaborated for over a decade, developing a distinctive body of work that explores the intersections of mythology, history and materialism. They co-directed the short films “Sin Dios ni Santa María” (2015), “Montañas Ardientes que Vomitan Fuego” (2016), “Plus Ultra” (2017), “Bloom” (2023) and “A Hundred- Headed Dragon” (2025), presented at film festivals like Rotterdam, Toronto, Locarno and Visions du Réel. The duo’s first feature film, “They Carry Death” (2021, 45th Mostra), was presented at festivals such as Venice and San Sebastián, where it received a Special Jury Mention. Beyond filmmaking, they have created installations and performances for leading art institutions in Madrid, Barcelona and New York. “The Fortunate Islands” is their second feature film.
