

Born in Porto Alegre in 1925. While still young, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he had his first experiences in cinema, working behind the scenes on productions at Atlântida studios. In 1945, he directed his first short film, “Homens ao Mar”. In 1948, he founded the production company Horizonte Produções Cinematográficas, through which he produced “North Wind” (1951), the first sound fiction feature film made in the south of Brazil. He also worked as a studio photographer and photojournalist, contributing to major publications such as LIFE and Vogue. He died in 1991.
