Born in Vienna, Austria, in 1952. She studied journalism and art history. Since 1985, she has worked as a writer and filmmaker. She directed, among others, “Return to Vienna” (1983), “The Paper Bridge” (1987), “East of War” (1996), “Homemad(e)” (2001), “Those Who Go, Those Who Stay” (2013), and “The Dreamed Ones” (2016), presented and awarded at festivals such as Berlin, Cinéma du Réel, and Sheffield. At the Mostra, she presented “The Waldheim Waltz” (2018), winner of the Best Documentary Award at the Berlin Film Festival; “Mutzenbacher” (2022), awarded as best film in the Encounters section, also in Berlin; and “Favoriten” (2024), awarded and screened at more than sixty international festivals.
