British director Rebekah Fortune began her career as an actress, training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where she earned a degree in acting and a master’s in classical theatre, and led her own theatre company before moving into filmmaking. Openly autistic, she founded the production company Seahorse Films, through which she champions greater opportunities in filmmaking for women and disabled artists. Her first feature, “Just Charlie” (2017), won the Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. She also directed the short films “Her Majesty” (2021) and “Bebe AI” (2022).
