

Director, screenwriter, and producer, he graduated in screenwriting from the Binger Filmlab at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. He has been active in the audiovisual market since the 1990s. He started his career in 1989 as an assistant director. His short film, “A Soccer Story”, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2001. He also directed the documentary “The Synthesis of a Race” (2009, 33rd Mostra) and the fiction features “Stillborn” (2009, 33rd Mostra), “Trinta” (2014, 38th Mostra), “The Eternal Son” (2016), and “Meu Sangue Ferve por Você” (2023, 47th Mostra). On television, he directed episodes of series such as “Petit Myths Urbains” (2003), “PSI” (2014), and “O Hipnotizador” (2015). Paulo Machline served on the jury of the 39th Mostra in 2015.
