Born in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, in 1964, he is a director, screenwriter and producer. Together with Lírio Ferreira, he directed “Baile Perfumado” (1996), one of the most important films of the Brazilian Retomada. In 2000, he co-directed the documentary “The Little Prince’s Rap Against the Wicked Souls” with Marcelo Luna. He went on to direct “Happy Desert” (2007, 32nd Mostra), “Land of Desire” (2011, 35th Mostra), “Saudade” (2018, 41st Mostra), “Prison Flowers” (2019, 43rd Mostra), co- directed with Bárbara Cunha, “Tropical Abyss” (2019, 43rd Mostra), “The Circus Is Back” (2021, 45th Mostra), and “Atmosfera” (2023, 47th Mostra). His films have been screened and awarded at international festivals including Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Rotterdam, Havana, Guadalajara and Buenos Aires.
