

Born in Los Angeles, USA, in 1970. Director, screenwriter, producer and cinematographer, Paul Thomas Anderson began his career working as a production assistant on television films, music videos and game shows. He made his feature debut with “Hard Eight” (1996), followed by “Boogie Nights” (1997) and “Magnolia” (1999), winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. He then directed “Punch-Drunk Love” (2002), which earned him the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival; “There Will Be Blood” (2007), winner of Best Director in Berlin and two Academy Awards; “The Master” (2012), winner of the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival; “Inherent Vice” (2014) and “Licorice Pizza” (2021). His feature “One Battle After Another” (2025) won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, among other prizes. Anderson has also directed music videos for artists such as Fiona Apple, Haim and Radiohead, in addition to maintaining a frequent collaboration in his films with Jonny Greenwood, the band’s musician and composer.
