

Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1974. She graduated in Journalism from the College of Social Sciences and has worked as a journalist, women’s rights activist and documentary filmmaker. She was also the first woman to serve as editor-in-chief in the Iranian media after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. As an activist, she has participated in campaigns addressing violence against women in the Iranian film and theatre industries, as well as initiatives against the death penalty. She directed the short documentary “Duet” (2009), featuring Shirin Ebadi and Jafar Panahi, and the feature-length documentary “Formerly Youth Square” (2017). “Women of the Revolution” is her second feature documentary.
