

A filmmaker born in Buenos Aires in 1975, Lisandro Alonso is one of the leading names of the New Argentine Cinema, a movement that emerged in the early 2000s. His films have been screened and awarded at major festivals around the world. His first feature film, “La Libertad” (2001), premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded at Rotterdam. He then directed “Los Muertos” (2004, 28th Mostra), “Fantasma” (2006), “Liverpool” (2008, 32nd Mostra), “Jauja” (2014, 38th Mostra) and “Eureka” (2023), all presented at Cannes. Lisandro Alonso also served on the jury of the 43rd Mostra in 2019. With “Double Freedom”, the director returns to the universe and the character of his first feature film.
