Born in Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil, in 1970. A director and screenwriter with a degree in film from the University of Brasília, Belmonte has over 25 years of experience in audiovisual media, including short films such as “5 Filmes Estrangeiros” (1997) and “Tepê” (1999, 24th Mostra), and television series such as “Jailers” (2017-2021) and “As Five / We Are Five” (2020-2024). He has established a diverse filmography across genres, and among his feature films are “Conception” (2005), “If Nothing Else Works Out” (2008, 32nd Mostra), “Alemão: Both Sides of the Operation” (2014) and “Alemão 2” (2022), “Back and Forth” (2016), “Carcereiros - O Filme” (2019, 43rd Mostra), “O Auto da Boa Mentira” (2021), “The Truths” (2021, 45th Mostra), “The Pastor and the Revolutionary” (2022, 46th Mostra) and “A Happy Family” (2023, 47th Mostra). In 2025, he released the films “Almost Deserted”, “Brazilian Heist” and “Aurora”, all of which were screened at the 49th Mostra.
