Born in Mozambique in 1969, he is a Portuguese film director currently living in Lisbon. He began his career in design and art direction before establishing himself as a director of TV commercials. Alongside his commercial work, Pinto has pursued more personal projects, directing music videos and films that explore identity, displacement, and the impact of history on the present. He directed the feature films “America” (2010), screened at the 34th Mostra and awarded at the IndieLisboa, and “Mosquito” (2020), which won the Critics’ Award for Best Foreign Film at the 44th Mostra, in addition to being presented at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. He also directed the series “Natural Law” (2022) for Portuguese television.
