German film director and screenwriter based in Berlin. Before studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy (DFFB), she earned a degree in mathematics from the Technical University of Berlin. She directed the feature films “Portrait of a Married Couple” (2002), “Gisela” (2005), “Blessed Events” (2010), “The Weather Inside” (2015), and “Grand Jeté” (2022), and was one of the directors of the anthology film “Germany 09” (2009), exhibited at the 33rd Mostra. Her works have been presented at festivals such as Berlin, Locarno, Rotterdam, Toronto, and Busan. She also teaches at the DFFB and the Filmakademie Baden- Württemberg, and has served on the juries of international film festivals. “I Rarely Wake Up Dreaming” is the second film Stever has made with her wife, the Ukrainian screenwriter Anna Melikova.
