
Born in Porto, Portugal, in 1974, he currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria. After studying Law at the Catholic University of Porto, he graduated from the School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC). His first feature film, “Body Rice” (2006), received a special mention from the jury at Locarno and won the director’s award at BAFICI. Then he made “Swans” (2011), which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and “An Outpost of Progress” (2016), based on the short story by Joseph Conrad and filmed in Angola, which also premiered at the Berlinale.
