

Screenwriter, editor, producer, and director born in 1982. He began his career in the underground scene of the 1990s with the scatological, Dadaist anti-music group Os Legais. Self-taught, but with a background in history, he delved into performance arts and experimental music, which led him to filmmaking alongside his musical projects. Among dozens of shorts and features, his main works include “Flaming Nipples” (2008) and “Pazucus: Island of Vomit and Despair” (2017). Gurcius is a central figure at the gore production company Canibal Filmes and has collaborated with Brazilian filmmakers such as Ivan Cardoso, Petter Baiestorf, Lígia Marina, and Gustavo Vinagre. His works have been screened at film festivals such as Sitges, Rotterdam, and Karlovy Vary.
