Gian Vittorio Baldi

He was born in 1930 in Lugo, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, and studied at the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Rome. He was the producer of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s “Pigsty” (1969) and “Notes towards an African Orestes” (1970). As a director, he made the short films “Parabola d’Oro” (1956), awarded at Cannes, “Il Pianto delle Zitelle” (1958) and “La casa delle vedove” (1960), both winners of the Golden Lion for Short Film at the Venice Film Festival. Many of his works were presented in a retrospective at the 33rd Mostra, including his first feature, “Luciano” (1962), “Fire!” (1969) and “Nevrijeme – The Storm” (1999). Gian Vittorio Baldi died in Italy in 2015.
