

Director, screenwriter and producer, he studied electronic engineering at the University of São Paulo, a course he left unfinished in order to pursue a career in filmmaking. At the beginning, until the early 1970s, he worked as a distributor alongside several filmmakers. In addition to short films, he directed and wrote the feature films “Anuska, Manequim e Mulher” (1968), “Touchy” (1976), “O Cortiço” (1978), “Besame Mucho” (1987), “Canta Maria” (2006), and “The Heartthrob” (2018), among others. He served as executive producer on films by directors such as Roberto Santos, in “Rain Lovers” (1979), for which he was also the screenwriter; Ana Carolina, in “Heart and Guts” (1982, 46th Mostra); and Hector Babenco, in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1985, 9th Mostra) and “At Play in the Fields of the Lord” (1991, 48th Mostra).
