

Born in Holguín, Cuba, in 1981. He specialized in Playwriting at the Universidad de las Artes in Havana and later in Screenwriting at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), where he is currently a guest professor. He is a recipient of Cuba’s National Dramaturgy Award and has participated in programs such as the Berlinale Talents and the Guadalajara Talent Campus. He directed short films like “Kendo Monogatari” (2012), which received a Special Jury Mention at Clermont-Ferrand, and “Fiodor in the Fiord” (2014). He co-wrote Carlos Lechuga’s “Vicenta B.” (2022), which was presented in the Toronto and San Sebastián film festivals, and Leinad Pájaro de la Hoz’s “A Bird Flew” (2024), awarded at the Berlin Film Festival. His feature directorial debut, “Horses” (2015), was presented at Frameline. “Cherri” is his second feature film.
