

Brazilian filmmaker born in 1978. He graduated from the International School of Film and TV (EICTV), in San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba, where he directed his first feature film, “Stones in the Sky” (2002), selected for festivals such as Venice, Rotterdam, and Locarno. Among his works are “Pachamama” (2008, 32nd Mostra); “Passerby” (2011); “Jards” (2013, 36th Mostra); “Sunday Ball” (2014, 38th Mostra); “Cinema Novo” (2016, 40th Mostra), which received the award for best documentary at the Cannes Film Festival; “Brief Mirage of Sun” (2019, 43rd Mostra), screened at the London Film Festival and awarded best film at IndieLisboa; and “The Falling Sky” (2024, 48th Mostra), directed in partnership with Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight, also at the Cannes Film Festival.
