Daniel Rezende

Filmmaker born in São Paulo in 1975. He directed the feature films “Bingo: The King of the Mornings” (2017), which was chosen as Brazil’s official entry to that year’s Academy Awards, “Monica and Friends: Bonds” (2019, 43rd Mostra), and its sequel “Monica and Friends: Lessons” (2021), acclaimed by critics and audiences. He also directed short films and television series, such as “Nobody’s Looking” (2019), winner of Best Comedy Series at the International Emmy Awards. His first feature film credit as an editor was “City of God” (2002), directed by Fernando Meirelles — for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Editing and garnered him a BAFTA in the same category. He also edited feature films like “The Motorcycle Diaries” (2004), by Walter Salles, “Elite Squad” (2007), by José Padilha, winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, and “The Tree of Life (2011), by Terrence Malick, which won the Palme D’Or at Cannes. He is also presenting the film “The Son of a Thousand Men” at the 49th Mostra.
