

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1955. He received a BA in mathematics from Harvard College and an MFA in screenwriting from the University of California. Sallitt was a film critic for the Los Angeles Reader, Slate, the Chicago Reader, and his own blog, Thanks for the Use of the Hall, among others. He directed the feature films “Polly Perverse Strikes Again!” (1986), “Honeymoon” (1998), “All the Ships at Sea” (2004), “The Unspeakable Act” (2012), screened at film festivals like Rotterdam, Vienna, and Karlovy Vary, and “Fourteen” (2019), presented at the Berlin International Film Festival. He also directed the short film “Caterina” (2019), which was screened at the New York Film Festival.
