Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña were born in Chile in 1980. Filmmakers and stop-motion animators, they studied at the Universidad Católica de Chile. They have been working together since 2007, making films and stop-motion animations that combine techniques such as photography, drawing, sculpture, and performance. Their films include the short “The Bones” (2021), which received an award at the Venice Film Festival; and the feature films “The Wolf House” (2018), which received the Caligari Film Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival; and “The Hyperboreans” (2024), presented in the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Their work has also been exhibited at institutions such as MoMA in New York and Tate in London.
