

Comes Chahbazian was born in Beirut at the dawn of the Lebanese Civil War. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a top athlete. At the age of 15, he moved to Belgium, which became his adopted home. Later, Armenia emerged as an essential anchor in his life. A self-taught filmmaker, he had his first short film, “Y.U.L.” (2002), selected at the 26th Mostra and the Venice Film Festival. He then directed “Ici-bas” (2010), “Rhythm & Intervals” (2016), and “Notre Village” (2022), presented at festivals such as Cinéma du Réel, Visions du Réel, DOK Leipzig, and Doclisboa. Today, he lives and works in Brussels.
