

Clio Barnard is a British filmmaker. She is known for a style that blends fiction and documentary, focusing on social realities. Her full-length debut, the documentary “The Arbor” (2010), was awarded at the BFI London Film Festival and Tribeca. After that, she directed the features “The Selfish Giant” (2013), which premiered as part of Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, where it won the award for Best European Film; “Dark River” (2017), awarded with a special mention by the Jury at the Toronto Film Festival; and “Ali & Ava” (2021), also presented in the Directors’ Fortnight. For television, Clio directed, among others, the series “The Essex Serpent” (2022).
