

Born in New York in 1961. He graduated in musical theater from Syracuse University and began his career as a playwright: his play “A Few Good Men” (1989), staged on Broadway, became the screenplay for the 1992 film of the same name. Known for his fast-paced dialogue and stories set in the backrooms of power, he wrote “The American President” (1995), “Charlie Wilson’s War” (2007), “The Social Network” (2010, 34th Mostra), which earned him the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay, “Moneyball” (2011), co-written with Steven Zaillian, and “Steve Jobs” (2015), as well as creating television series such as “The West Wing” (1999-2006), for which he won five Emmy Awards, and “The Newsroom” (2012-2014). He made his directorial debut with “Molly’s Game” (2017), followed by “The Trial of the Chicago 7” (2020) and “Being the Ricardos” (2021). In 2020, he took part in a Mostra Conversa at the 44th Mostra.
