In 1999, Trond Sander waits for the arrival of the new millennium isolated in a village, in the east of Norway. There, he recognizes Lars, an old friend. The encounter makes him remember the summer of 1948, when he was a teenager and was in the same village with his dad. In that summer, young Trond needed to cope with the betrayal and disappearance of his father, who ran off with a woman Trond was interested in.
