The filmmaker Talal Derki goes back to his birth country, Syria, where a radical Islamist family takes him in. For two years, he followed the family’s routine, specially the children’s: Osama, 13 years old, and Ayman, 12. Both admire and obey their father, whose dream is to establish a caliphate, an Islamic and monarchic government. While Osama seems to follow the path of Jihad, Ayman want to go back to school. The film captures the moment when the children have to let go of their youth and are finally turned into Jihadi fighters.
