In Mumbai, India, the young widow Ratna works as a domestic live-in help for Ashwin, a man of a wealthy family. Ashwin seems to have everything, but Ratna senses that he has given up on his goals and is lost. On the other hand, Ratna, who seems to have nothing, is full of hope and works to fulfill her dreams. As the two worlds collide, the barrier between the characters seems to become insurmountable.
