The documentary portrays the photographer Assis Horta, who immortalized the architectural heritage and Diamantina’s society. The big boost on his career came in 1943, with the new labor legislation enacted by Getúlio Vargas. When became obligatory to have a photo on the professional document, Vargas gave the final push for the working class get into Assis Horta’s studio. On the following years, he portrayed hundreds of people. In 3x4 or full body, that was the first time many of them where photographed.
