Catholic minister of a state penitentiary, Jakob Voelz watches his colleague and best friend Dominik Bertram being arrested under the suspicion of sexual abuse. Yet, what Jakob is beginning to suspect, but doesn`t want to know, becomes a crucial test of his faith and his self-conception as a priest: there is a truth we welcome and a truth we fear. As Jakob begins to turn against that silence within the church, he is taught a lesson: the church is a mother, and one does not beat a mother.
